Our Trip to the Wiregrass Heritage Festival

Saturday, mama,Rebekah, Emily, Natalie and I went to the Heritage festival held at Landmark Park here in Alabama. It was a lot of fun and we took a lot of pictures! Here are some for your enjoyment. :-)

On the way there, we were listening to one of our favorite c.d.s and singing along.........

Apparently Natalie didn't like Bekah's singing.......:-(

We walked around for a good bit, looking at the exhibitions and all. We saw some old buildings that had been turned into old-timey shops, and mama had Bekah and Emily pose on the steps.

My friend Sarah, who plays the dulcimer, was there along with several other dulcimer players. They played a lot of hymns and folk songs, and did a very good job!

Sarah playing. Don't you just love her dress?

We stopped to admire some pigs.......they were kinda cute.:-)

Natalie really enjoyed getting to see the pigs......

and the goat. I posted this picture because this goat looks so much like a goat we use to have named Louisa. Except this one is about twice her size, and has horns........:-)

Old-timey soap making. I'm glad we can buy our soap now! It looks like fun when your standing there watching them, but after a while I'm sure it gets to be very hard.

One of the men in charge of fire wood saw Emily standing around idle........

and put her to work.:-)

Pull Emmi, pull!

A cooking demonstration.

What an interesting way to cook a chicken!

We decided to try out one of the walking trails with Mrs. Gillis and her son Daniel. The trail was a little bumpy for the stroller, but we managed to make it though.:-)

Here Bekah, Daniel and Emily have stopped to inspect a stream. We saw a lot of fish and even a turtle!

An old tree they cut down. The little cards mark each ring on the tree, showing how old the tree is. The first one starts with I think 900 a.d. Wow.........

After we got through on the walking trail, we went to get something to drink.

Natalie being silly for the camera.

:-)

I love this picture of Emily.......such a happy smile.:-)

All of us posing on the church steps.

Natalie stole Emilie's hat!

The whole day was a lot of fun! I can't wait to go back!

Hello Again!

Well, I'm back! :-)
We have managed to move into my Aunt and Uncle's house and have settled in wonderfully. We've also started school again. My sister Rebekah has a new blog up as well, so please go and visit her there! (and please feel free to leave her comments)

I haven't blogged lately because I didn't really have anything to say.:-) However, seeing as my friend Allison was sweet enough to give me a blogging award and tag me, I think I need to do something. :-)

So, first I've been given the "Kindred Spirit award", part of the Kindred Spirit Network. This is a neat site with blogs by different girls, on all different subjects, so please be sure to check it out!

Photobucket

Now, I am supposed to choose some fellow bloggers to give this award to, so I pick........

Sarah from Bubblegumstew

Savannah from The Family Cochran

My sister Rebekah from Kolo and Spice and Everything Nice.

Thank You Allison!!!

And now, for the tag.

Rules are as follows:1. Link to the person(s) who tagged you. 2. Post the rules on your blog. 3. Write six random things about yourself. 4. Tag sixish people at the end of your post. 5. Let each person know he or she has been tagged. 6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Six Random Things About me

1. Dark chocolate truffles are my very best firends.

2. I have to look at someone when they talk to me, because I can't hear out of the sides of my ears. My dad is the same way.

3. The one time I drove a vehicle for more than 5 minutes, I wrecked it.

4. I have moved 3 times in the last 2 years, and have been to over a dozen states in the last 4 years.

5. At one time my sisters and I owned a collection of approximately 8 hunting, skinning and pocket knives, 2 BB guns, 2 archery sets, 1 hatchet, and could build a 6x6 emergency/play shelter out of cinder blocks, fence posts and tarps in less than 2 hours. (I am proud of that.)

6. Rain frogs and lizards make me cry. :-)

I hereby tag

Sarah

Rebekah

Savannah.

Well, that's all for now folks!

Well, I've done it.

I actually did it. Didn't know if it would work or not, but I did it.

For a month and 3 days, I have not blogged. From August the 12th to September the 15th, I didn't post, did not work on my sidebar, didn't even comment on other people's blogs.

And nobody even noticed that I had disappeared from the blogosphere.
No comments asking where I'd disappeared to.

Nobody cared.

If I had died, if my computer was blown up, if whatever, nobody would have been concerned.

I am never ever going to blog again! Farewell blogger! Farewell to all you bloggers who probably aren't even reading this! Goodbye............

Okay, is everyone feeling bad enough now? If not, I can go on some more. :-)

Just kidding. My computer hasn't blown up, I'm still alive, and no, I'm not mad at anybody. :-)

The truth is, the last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy. With trying to get ready to move, not being able to move, not knowing when were moving, it's been a bit crazy. And, to top it all off, I really haven't been feeling like blogging. :-p However, I solemnly promise.......wait a second! No promises! We all should know by now, when it comes to blogging, I'm not good at keeping promises. :-) However, you can all look forward to my promised posts in the very near future. And to further delight you, I have no intention of making any more blogging promises in the near future. When it takes a girl 3 months to write a book review, you know she doesn't need to be doing it. :-D

We have found a house in Dothan which we will be renting, so the movers are probably coming next week. We've never had movers before, so this will be an experience. Well, we have had movers before. It was a terrible ordeal and I have tried to erase it from my mind but I suppose they were movers none the less.:-) It's funny, we've moved so many times, it doesn't seem right not to be moving ourselves. :-) I can't wait to see their trucks. :-) Call me silly, but I'm always impressed by moving trucks. Maybe it has something to do with all those trips we took back and forth to Mississippi, moving furniture, boxes, dogs and goats.............all in one horse trailer.:-) I'm going to find some pictures from that move and post them here.........otherwise y'all would never believe me. :-)

Well, I'll stop rambling.......

And Nineteen Days Later........

We celebrated my younger sister Emily's entrance into the "double digits".

Emily loves horses.........so that was her party theme. :-)

Emmi with her cake.

Didn't Mama do a great job? She decorated the entire cake herself!

All of the girls. I have no idea why Natalie is hunched forward in this picture.......but I just loved her smile.

Traditionally, Natalie gets the bows off of the presents. One bow.....

A 3-D (horse) puzzle!

Two bows and a ribbon.....

San Domingo! I'm not very good at knowing who all of these Breyer horses are, but having read San Domingo: the Medicine Hat Stallion years ago, I knew who he was and his claim to fame. :-) Sadly, I can't say that for the rest of these horses.

Three bows! This reminds me of the elaborate headpieces Mrs. Gibson would wear on Wives and Daughters.

"Windtalker!"

Rebekah: "Windtalker?!? Wow, Windtalker!"

" Windtalker?"

Windtalker!

Emily explains exactly who "Windtalker" is.

Natalie listens in dignified silence.

Reading the cards......

Thank you Sara.......

Emily had been wanting a stuffed Breyer horse named Caramel for a long time, so we got it for her for her birthday.

M&M's anyone?

Battle of the birthday blow toy thingies.....(what are those called? )

Blowing out the candles!

For the rest of the day we played around with Breyer horses.......and watched King Kong while Natalie was napping. (by Emily's special request)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And in other news:
We are going out of town for the next week or so. I have some scheduled blog posts coming up for the next couple of days, including my pictures of the Feelin' Feminine Challenge, as well as the much promised but never posted reading list. Instead of doing June's list in July :-P I decided to go ahead and combine June, July and August into one post......and forgot to put it on my sidebar. :-( I apologise for being so slack with my blogging......we have been so very busy with everyday life around here, that I simply haven't felt like doing my blog! I will be getting back on board though.
Look out for some upcoming posts!
In Christ,
Sara~
